I'll be on my way home (Akron, PA) in about an hour. I'll be home for around a week, and then I'm back here to Waterloo, probably until Christmas. I haven't been back home for an extended amount of time since last summer. Last Christmas I was only home for a a couple of days before going to Manitoba, and then I was home at the end of April for a little over a week. Well I better finish getting ready to go... 08.09.2001
Maybe I'll start a plugin of the day section :) System Hotkeys for Winamp - lets you configure hotkeys for winamp. There are a bunch of others that let you do this... I haven't tried them, but this one looked like one of the best. The special feature of displaying the song title on the screen is sort of cool. 08.08.2001
EZ-Playlist: another cool winamp plugin that helps you manage your playlists and mp3 tags. 08.07.2001
I checked out some more winamp plugins today: Winamp BrowserBar - lets you put previous, forward, play, pause, and stop buttons in you Internet Explorer toolbar. Dee - enhances sound quality by adding deeper bass and other stuff. Seems to work okay... haven't fooled around with it too much. 08.06.2001
I decided to play around with the Do Something Winamp Plugin. It was very easy to setup and lets me do cool stuff like give you the list of the latest mp3's that I've listened that you see on the right sidebar of my main page. How do I do it? Well, I use Do Something to generate a file that contains the list of the latest mp3's that I've heard (the top one is actually the one I am currently listening to) and ftp the file to Tomato (the server on which my site is hosted). The file I generate is a php file... at least that's the extention, it is really just html. Then since my weblog uses php, I can include "playlist.php" wherever I want my list to be.... I knew there would be a good reason to change over to php extentions :) . Very cool stuff!!! The Do Something plugin also does playlist monitering, which lets you control stuff like how many times the same artist/album can be played in a certain amount of time. So if you use Winamp, I suggest you check it out. I was actually using Freeamp before, but will probably use winamp now because of this plugin.
If you take a look at these screenshots for Windows XP it appears that the new Windows Messenger "unifies a number of communication tools into one complete, personal experience for consumers." Although there have been several attempts to make it easy to communicate with "buddies" across different platforms using one client, none have become popular on the same scale as ICQ, AIM, or MSN Messenger. This move could have a big impact on instant-messaging war. If Windows Messaging has a good user interface, has all the features of ICQ/AIM, and lets you communicate with friends that use different IM services, I will be all over it. Currently I have AIM and ICQ installed and running (ICQ seems to be the service of choice here in Waterloo, while back home it is AIM. I haven't determined if the line is draw at the Canada/US border). I don't understand why AOL didn't unify ICQ and AIM long ago (or at least make them compatible). I really shouldn't have to have both. 08.05.2001
To clear up any confusion... I was not really hacked. At least I wouldn't call it a that. My brother wondered if someone had actually hacked my site and locked me out. As you can tell from this posting, I am not locked out... unless this is an imposter, mmmmhahahaha. I believe I know who the hacker was, and since I told him how to do it, I don't consider it a hack. |
