Another fairly uneventful day. The highlight memory-wise had to be the climbing of the fence. We went out for John's birthday (Me, John, Goyer, Natalie, Jen, Donny). We decided to go to a place down by Waterloo Town Square. It was around 7:30, so we were all very hungry. So we decide to "optimize" our walk, by cutting through so apartment parking lots. The only problem was that there was a fence at the back. It wasn't very high... no use walking all the way around, so we'll climb it. John, Donny, and I got over... no problem. Then as Jen goes, and she's doing okay, but as she is about to jump down she gets her jeans caught on a the top... there were some pointy parts at the top. She sat there for a while as Goyer tried to get her free. So much for the saved time. Eventually she got free and jumped down, but she got a hole the seat of her pants. Then Natalie went over, and she uneasy about balancing on the fence while trying not to get a stuck and not to get a hole in her jeans. With a bit of help she got over without getting stuck, but she didn't avoid the dreaded hole. Goyer then climbed over without a problem. So two pairs of jeans with holes, and no saved time, but it was memorable. :)

Not much to write about today. I'm "on the project" for the chat room and will probably start setting up a test chat room on Monday, when Nolan is back to help me get started. We'll be using phpOpenChat. I just finished Catcher in the Rye. It's actually the 3rd or 4th time I've read it. It's become a yearly summer reading. I picked up my information pack for moving into Grebel in the fall. It's got the faces book, with pictures of most of the residents, a lot of which don't actually look the same when you meet them... but it's fun to look at anyway. I'm looking forward to getting back into residence. More people to hang out with and more things happening.

I've been using Allaire Homesite for a while now. I downloaded a 60 day trail version and since I format my hard drive a lot, I haven't had to worry about it expiring before I reinstall. However, I haven't formatted in a while (over 60 days :) ) so my evaluation version has now expired. Lucky they didn't protect it very well. You can just change the date in Windows, open Homesite, and then change the date back. I actually might be getting a legitimate version soon through someone at work, but it works great until then.

Just got back from Winnipeg this afternoon, eager to get back my place, check my email, and catch up with what happening. Too bad my DSL connection sucks and is going slower than 56K modem. I haven't even been able to get my email with Outlook because the connection is such crap... after 4+ tries of using telnet, I'm finally able to check it. (Update: it's better now. Happy me)

As for my trip to Manitoba (I don't call it a vacation), I guess it went as well as could be expected. We made a lot of progress in the two days that Tim and I were there. We filled 2 1/2 dumpsters, 3 truck loads of wood for burning (3-ton truck), and 1 1/2 loads of stuff for MCC reuseit (moving truck). There was still plenty of stuff in the house when we left, but most of the big stuff was gone, and the new condo was full by anyones standards except my grandma's. It's hard to understand the mind of someone who is addicted to keeping things. Besides there not being enough room in the new condo, why would you want to keep home canned food from the 1970's and enough sweaters to pack full a 7+ft. cabinet? Or why would you wash, keep, and store toothpaste caps? Why would you want to store napkins in the bathtub, and the canned food around the toilet since the 12 cubic foot freezer and second bedroom are full? And although some of these things can be great to joke about (you have to inorder to servive the move), it is actually pretty sad how warped her sense of reality is, that she believes she needs to keep everything. On a positive note, it does inspire everyone else not to be packrats, and to get rid of things they do not need.
