[Previous entry: "Funny / Interesting Articles"] [Main Index] [Next entry: "chat rooms and web portals"] 07/17/2001 Entry: "Actually Work... sort of" So do I just sit around reading articles like the ones I just posted. No... I actually do "real" work... sometimes. My latest project is checking out what it would take to run a real-time web chat room. It's for a youth oriented site, and the idea is that a chat room would get more people to the site. They'd like stuff like moderation, and guest speaker options. I'm a bit skeptical about whether this would actually work... would people actually come to the site to chat. Sure ICQ/AIM/MSN chat programs are popular, but that's more for individual/personal communcation. And depending on the people, it is often just small talk (but that gets into other issues). I've never been in a good group chat room with moderation or guest speakers... it isn't very appealing to me, but it would be good to know what it's like.
